potatoes
We buy cheap potatoes, place them were they'll grow eyes. Let the eyes reach 1 in, Then plant them 6" deep with dried pine needles. Our crop is great and the plants are beautiful. I plant at the begining of our growing season, in the end of may for all but peas and a couple other things. This has been successful for a couple years now.

taters
oohhh. thank you. I was wondering why you would buy them instead of using your own potatoes.

Potatoes
Potatoes are started from "seed potatoes" or the tuber cut so that the chunck that gets planted has at least one eye. Best is to purchase seed potatoes since the potatoes that you buy at the store are usually treated with a growth suppressant so they won't sprout in the display case.
