Peonies
Do Peonies do well in Memphis, Tennessee? Is the soil typically the right mix for them?

They will do fine in Memphis. You need to mend the soil in the same manner you would do that for other perennials. Make sure the drainage is good, they do not like wet feet. Also VERY important is that you do not plant them too deep. NO MORE than 2 inches of dirt on top of the eyes. Water well for a few weeks if Mother Nature lets you down. They may not flower the first year, mainly because of stress, but you should have a flower the second year.
