Here is a good strawberry growing guide (not for Florida, but maybe it will help?):_BR

It looks like it all depends on whether these are first year plants. _BR If they are, you should pinch off blossoms., and wait until the second year to get your fruit. Of course, sometimes its really hard to listen to what you 'should' do... I planted strawberries here in NYC and pinched off the first set until about the end of July, then let the second set stay because I got impatient. I got good results in that first year... tasty fruit although not much of it._BR_BRSo yes, you are not going to get as many, but you should do it so that the plants can grow good root systems, put out 'daughters' and yield big time next year.

Growing strawberries in Florida
Here in Houston, Tx, on the line between zones 8/9 we should plant

"June bearing" strawberries in Oct or
Nov. and they should bear about now.
(When surf gets about 70 degrees)
"Everbearing" plants may try to make
all winter if it is warm like 98/99
and 99/00. When it gets real hot and
humid pull them out and put in new plants next fall. They just cannot
handle summers of 90%+ humidity and
100+ deg f.
Don't listen to how they do it in the
Upper south or Yankeeland because they
have different problems and probably
different varieties. Get a local garden club or the extension service
to advise on planting dates and varities in your area and dont be surprised if the two lists differ.
Pick the latest data.
Dont buy varieties from discount stores and expect to get favorable results unless they just happen to be on the
above lists. They rarely are because
they buy for the whole country and will
be just right for Little Rock or Cinccy.
Same goes in spades for grafted trees.
