how do I start an adult jade to root?

My adult jade had a bad case of mealy bugs, I chopped the bottom off. How do I get to root? IN STARTER SOIL OR WATER OR SAND? OR START OVER FROM SCRATCH?

    I just got dont rooting mine just so I can have more!! All I did was snap off peices and put right back in the soil. I am happy to say they now have roots so they are on there way to being a happy new plant!! Today I am starting a leaf of a jade. I never did that before so hopefully this to will work!! Hope this helps ya!
