3-Soil is not the best

How about a mixed border?
Sue, do you have room for a mix of plants? How long/wide is the area? It is very natural looking and more effective ( I think) to plant an evergreen or two, along with a medium deciduous tree, and then some shrubs and grasses in front of that. It works well if you have some room. Do you?

Lynn, I have evergreens planted that are approx 25ft away from the area that I want to plant, and also there are azaleas & rhodos planted also. I need a replacement tree that will fit in a space about 5ft away from the shrubs but will be far enough away from the evergreens. I was looking at Japanese snowbells, Cornelian cherry , or thundercloud plum. Any suggestions?
