cold frames minimum temp to be able to utliize

What is the earliest I can utilize a cold frame in Northern WI? I have tomatoe, kohlrabi, pepper, squash, herbs, lettuce plants etc. already growing indoors. The nights here are just beginning to reach 40. What is min degrees before I can set plants in cold frame for my jump start to gardening this year? Thanks!
