unusual marigold

I plant marigold in a flower box. Last fall a large marigold started to grow. It has a large central flower surrounded by 9 smaller flowers all on one tall stem, about 10 inches. This is not like the other marigolds that bloomed earier in the container. Does anyone know what variety this is? I can furnish a photo of the dried plant. It is still in the container outside my kitchen window.
