This months gardening letter and cats

I have received this months south gardening newsletter and it contains information about keeping your kitty cats from catching birds in your garden?
It shows a cat wearing some sort of bib thing that he has to wear on his collar and drag in front of him all the time?
I have an easier solution, I am a cat lover and have had cats and gardens and birds for 40 years. If your kitty cat is catching your birds just put a bell on his collar. As soon as he tries to catch a bird the bell jiggles and the bird flies away.
Good for the birdies, frustrating for the kitty cats.
