crape myrtle

I have a small garden and we planted a crape myrtle tree marketed as a miniature in 2008 about 3feet tall. One season later it is 5-6 feet tall. We have had an unreasonalbly rainy season with severe storms and the tree is falling over. This is the second time the tree has fallen. It stops raining the tree stands tall again. Will this keep happening or should we do something to help it stand strong? Help anyone
