japanese beetles

Theser japanese beetles are eating the life out of my big lily leaves, my friuit tree leaves ( especially the cherry tree ), some of my flowers and roses, veggie plants........ so far the only thing they are leaving alone is the paint on the house.

My question is this: I found a recipe online for mixing onions and garlic and hot pepper and a few drops dish soap and a few drops of mineral oil and adding water to the strained mixture and spraying well. Will this harm the good bug, like ladybugs, and what about any potential problems for the bees and the birds?
