Weed barrier for blueberries

My husband and I planted six blueberry bushes last week in a field that was full of weeds. We prepared the bed as well as we could and then installed weed barrier fabric and topped that with 2-3 inches of pine bark mulch. I was working in the area today and noticed that the water from a recent rain was sitting on top of the weed fabric that was exposed. I am now concerned that the buses will not get sufficient water. Should I remove it or will it eventually allow the water to penetrate?
