Salvia and sage plant is splitting and falling over

Salvia and sage plant is splitting and falling over

I have noticed that last year and this year my salvia plant and my sage plants don't stand up anymore - they start laying flat on the ground in a circle so the center of the plant is bare. What's the deal?

    My best guess without seeing the plants is that they are old and need to be divided. That's what happens to some perennials after a few years.
