Broccoli

I planted broccoli and cauliflour this year. They have so far grown very well, and gotten quite large already. One broccoli plant was leanin' kind of funny, I thought the wind got it. I went out, and tried to firm it into place with my hands....it came right off. I saw a lot of ants where it had been initially.....I tell what kind of ants. Would ants have eaten this plant off at the root?
