Is it safe to use newspaper and colored mulch to control weeds in a vegetable garden? I was wondering if the ink/dye in the newspaper/mulch would taint the crops.

    I have always used newspaper but only the black & white pages with no problem. I've never used colored mulch so can't help with that.

      As far as the mulch question goes, I recently read the front of the bag and it said that it is safe for vegetable gardens.
