Planting in the fall

Someone asked, "I bought some good looking blueberry and blackberry bushes about a month ago, and I would like to know if they will be hurt if I go ahead and plant them this fall, or will the cold winter kill them?"

Fall, now, is a good time to plant most any tree or shrub since those plants are going dormant and the roots will be able to get well established without needing to supply the top with nutrients so next spring they will be able to do that much better. Since trees and shrubs can be planted up here until mid to late December, you stillhave ample time to do that.
