Paeonia Ludlowii 'Lutea'

Has anyone started this paeony from seed and if so,could you give me some advise on starting them.
I let mine produce a few seed pods this year. Not sure when the seeds are ready? Do they drop off or can I pick them before this happens?
Are the seeds more viable when planted fresh or does this matter? Do they need to be nicked or filed a bit before planting?
