bug spray

My garden was overwhelmed with bugs in the yard that I sprayed some bug spray. Most of the crawlers and spiders are gone but I noticed that butterflies and other flying insects have laid their eggs underneath veggie leaves. How can I stop or deter flying bugs from getting my veggies without using so much bug spray?
