spiders

We recently bought a home in a sub urban in Southwest Montana (Bozeman) with a fenced-by-others back yard that is completely infested by spiders. The area in which they are most prolific is very wet most of the year, due to what I am told is either an underground water source or runoff area. Does any one have any ideas as to how to get rid of the spiders? Will planting trees that thrive on water help dry out the area and make the spiders go away or are they not a problem and I can just live with them? I plan on putting in a garden and trees, possibly a swimming pool, etc...and wonder if changing the yard from bare to something pleasant may help.
