Trying to learn about Coco Planters

I have a hanging plant that I transplanted into a coco lined planter. It worked well for about three weeks, now it's looking blightish. Before I traumatize the plant anymore I was wondering if anyone can tell me the purpose of a coco planter if there is a special purpose. I thought it was very attractive and thus my reasoning for buying and planting. I can't tell you the name of the plant, but it is similar to a perslaine, just not as waxy. It has big beautiful pink blooms that are fine. it's the rest of the plant that has me worried.
