Ocotillo
We have planted many ocotillos over the years. The only thing we ever did was dig a very big hole, fill it with water and let it soak in. Then we buried the roots, making sure that we covered all of them. Water it thoroughly and let it soak in. Come back the next morning and fill in any cracks in the soil with more soil. Do not overwater. Our landscaper told us to water every 10 days for the first month, then every two weeks in the heat of the summer. REMEMBER that they need to dry out after heavy watering before they will leaf out! We have never lost one of our plantings. enjoy!
