A note from your editor: In a recent newsletter issue, we featured Butterfly Bush (Buddleja) and we did not mention that it is invasive in most of the regions our newsletter reaches. So, primarily, I want to express the warning that while butterfly bushes are awesome and beautiful and lots of wildlife benefit from it, the fact is that it is invasive in most places and shouldn't be intentionally grown. Echinacea, milkweed, Liatris, and Sweet Pepperbush are all better choices.
It's also important to point out that as you read this newsletter, please keep in mind that the beautiful photos we present each week are selections from the many hundreds of photos our members shared on Garden.org the previous week. These selections are chosen primarily on how many "thumbs ups" they got from the other members. Just because a photo is shown in our newsletter, however, that does not mean it is endorsed for your garden. It just means it's a cool photo that our members liked. As you make choices for what to introduce into your own gardens, please do a quick look to see if it is the right choice. Invasive species are harmful and should not be planted. Thanks for reading, and thank you for continuing to enjoy our weekly newsletter! -Dave
