I was tired of looking at the bare doggie yard as I sat on my favorite rocking chair on my deck, so I decided to put down some slate-colored stone to match the house roof and make a walk to the gate. I use that entrance to go to the greenhouse as well as to go out to the back flower and tree fields. Then I added more slate-colored slabs at different spots along the big black fence and beneath the edge of the deck so I could put containers on them and they would not interfere with mowing the grass in the pen.
This is one of the early shots of the completed doggie yard including Charle, my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
This is a picture of months of growth and flowers I enjoyed all summer.
This is a picture of the inside view of the red Mandevilla.
The containers on the fence were filled with beautiful red Mandevilla. The containers in front of the deck were pink, red and orange Bougainvillea and two different Jasmine bushes. On the top of the deck I had containers of orange hibiscus and jasmine. All in all, it was a big improvement and both Charle and I enjoyed it.
More shots of the plants used in this project.
