This hydrangea seemed very slow to get established in my garden. After several years, it is still less than 2 feet tall. It is very sensitive to drought and will droop when dry. Very pretty blooms, which open white and then turn pink, and gradually an antique rose color. This one benefits from being planted in morning sun and afternoon shade.

I saw a number of this cultivar sold at the garden center in southeast Pennsylvania where I worked part-time for about ten years. My largest customer has one planted at the house foundation. It is definitely at least with one parent plant being the Mountain Hydrangea (H. serrata) and may have the Bigleaf Hydrangea as the other parent; although many sources list it as a straight Hydrangea serrata. It bears the hortensia or mophead flower cluster structures of all sterile showy florets. The round flower clusters are about 3 to 4 inches across and begin as creamy white in late June and turn pink later on in summer and turn darker to a red-pink at the end in late summer.
