Frans Hals is a feisty little daylily! The plants I received were so small, only a few leaves each, that I thought I would have to wait until next season to see blooms. They took a long time to start showing new growth, but when they did they put it on very quickly. When three of my four tiny fans started showing scapes, I worried that they were too small to let bloom, but the buds grew like gangbusters and I actually got gorgeous blooms this season. So happy to have this beautiful little thing, and I look forward to many years of its pretty flowers.

This is my favorite "old" daylily. And this daylily reblooms for me here in Texas, which I like a lot.

My 1st year to "SEE" this classic beauty! Ever hear "if a tree falls in the forest, and no one's there, does it make any sound?"
Same goes for our blooming daylilies. I thought my Frans Hals was nothing more than spikey grass. For years I always vacationed around this time. Leaving later this year has blessed me with viewing my late bloomer, Frans! Go figure...
NOTE- Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not blooming. Frans Hals is a great one, worth sticking around for!
  • Posted by Natalie (North Central Idaho - Zone 7a) on Jul 17, 2015 10:25 PM concerning plant:
Frans Hals has been a great performer for me, and really adds a lot of color to the garden! I always smile when I see it blooming, which it does really well! It has also increased very fast for me, which is a plus! I will always have this one in my garden.

Edited to add that there are a lot of prolifs on the clump this year! Way more than on any other daylily I have. It's also looking to be a bud builder this year.

Love this old Daylily. This year it gave me the very first proliferation.
